Estrella Engineering, Able Products Co. win technology award
Honor marks second consecutive win for innovative designs at area
high schools
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration
and Air-Conditioning Engineers' (ASHRAE) Northeast Florida
chapter recently honored Estrella Engineering and Able Products
Company for excellence in technology.
The award marks the second consecutive honor for Estrella Engineering,
which designed Fleming Island High School's $3.3 million air-conditioning
system, and Able Products Co., which installed the system. Last
year, the two companies won the same award for their collaboration
on the $1.35 million system implemented at RideOut Elementary School
in Clay County's Middleburg.
Estrella Engineering's innovative demand based ventilation
design and use of energy recovery allows for reduced equipment,
energy and maintenance costs by regulating ventilation rates and
energy.
The annual award honors ASHRAE members who design and/or conceive
innovative technological concepts that are proven through operation.
Competitors' projects are judged on criteria including energy
efficiency, indoor-air quality, innovation, operation and maintenance,
cost effectiveness and environmental impact. Estrella Engineering
and Able Products will advance to the regional competition, honoring
the best in heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning engineering
throughout Florida, Brazil, Puerto Rico and South America. If successful,
the team then will compete with ASHRAE members around the globe.
