Estrella Engineering designs award-winning
HVAC system for
RideOut Elementary School
In
2001, the Clay County School Board hired Estrella Engineering to
design an air-conditioning system for a 78,200-square-foot space
in RideOut Elementary School in Middleburg, Fla. Estrella Engineering
designed a $1.25 million HVAC system, which utilized energy recovery
and demand-based ventilation design.
Estrella Engineering’s design reduced equipment capacities,
and energy and maintenance costs by utilizing energy recovery. Demand-based
ventilation is achieved by utilizing a direct digital control system
to monitor carbon dioxide levels to determine the building’s
occupancy level. Based on those results, the DDC system automatically
adjusts the ventilation rate, minimizing energy consumption.
The cost-effective, energy-efficient design earned Estrella Engineering
the Regional American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning
Engineer Technology Award in 2002.

Estrella Engineering won an ASHRAE Award for its design of a
cost-effective and energy-efficient HVAC system for RideOut Elementary
School in Middleburg, Fla.
